Plated, Stainless or Leather: What Our Jewellery Is Made Of

The words on a jewellery label tell you how a piece will wear, how to look after it and what to expect over the years. Here, plainly, is what ours are made of — and what that means for you.
Stainless steel at the core
Our pendants, chains, rings and clasps are built on stainless steel. It is strong, holds its shape and doesn’t rust in everyday wear — a sound base for pieces you reach for every day.
Gold- and silver-plated finishes
A gold- or silver-plated piece has a thin layer of colour bonded over that steel. It brings the warmth of gold or the brightness of silver at an everyday price. Plating is a surface, not solid metal: with time it can soften, soonest where a piece rubs against skin or clothing, or meets perfume and water.
Look for the finish in a piece’s materials — gold-plated or silver-plated stainless steel — and if anything is unclear, ask us before you buy.
Leather, wood and stone
Our bracelets bring other materials in: leather cords and bands fastened with stainless-steel clasps, natural wooden beads, and stones such as tiger eye. They are lighter and more textured, and each asks for its own care.
How to choose
“Buy for how you live. The best piece is the one you actually wear.”
For a piece you rarely take off, a silver tone shows wear least, since the steel beneath is silver too. For pieces you put on for the day and take off at night, gold finishes and leather keep their look longest with a little care — our care guide has the details.
