Not all gold jewellery is made the same. Understanding the difference helps you buy pieces that last — and match your budget to your everyday.
What is gold vermeil?
Gold vermeil is a thick layer of gold (at least 2.5 microns, 18k in our case) bonded over solid sterling silver. It is far more durable than ordinary gold plating, which uses a base metal and a fraction of the gold thickness.
When to choose solid gold
Solid gold is an heirloom investment — ideal for pieces you never take off, like a wedding band. Vermeil gives you the same warmth and a lower price, perfect for building a wardrobe of meaningful everyday pieces.
“Buy for how you live, not just for the label. The best piece is the one you actually wear.”
Whichever you choose, care matters most: keep gold away from moisture and perfume, and it will keep its glow for years.
